Inpatient Rehabilitation
Comprehensive services for the most medically complex rehabilitation patients
UP Health System - Marquette is home to the only Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Patients in this setting receive individualized intensive therapy aimed at maximizing their physical, cognitive, emotional, psychological and social function with a goal of the patient returning to his/her home and their community environment.
Our team of experts specialize in helping patients maximize their functional goals. We provide the highest level of post-acute medical care while sustaining a caring and culturally sensitive environment. Our staff is devoted to the rehabilitation of patients with various disorders and conditions which include: stroke, amputations, brain injury, neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, orthopedic, and musculoskeletal conditions.
Our 16-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit combines a home-like atmosphere with rehabilitation services to help patients recover from a hospital stay for an illness or injury. Private rooms are large and the entire unit promotes social interaction with a large dining room, activity room and sitting areas. All patient rooms are equipped with a bathroom, phone, TV, and free WIFI. Our goal is to help patients regain independence as quickly and safely as possible. Patients will receive focused and intensive therapy sessions three hours per day on five days per week to improve strength, endurance, motor control, and stability. That means our patients might spend time walking, getting out of bed, cooking, tying shoes, buttoning buttons, or practicing any skills that need to be mastered again.
Our average length of stay on inpatient rehabilitation is 12 days.
